The administrative offices in Okehi Local Government Area (LGA) of Kogi state has been aattacked by some unknown gunmen suspected to be terrorists
SaharaReporters, said the attack took place on Monday evening, on 20th of February, 2023, and has created tension among residents in the area.
The administrative office that was attacked is close to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) facility in the local government area.
The Kogi State command of the Nigerian Police Force and The commission are yet to respond to the incident, although it was learnt that detectives had been deployed to the scene.
If you remember the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, has claimed responsibility for several attacks in the state recently.
The terrorist group recently claimed responsibility for a car bomb explosion that killed about four people and injured several others in the Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State in January.
Meanwhile, an explosion rocked a gas plant in Efurrun, a community in the Uvwie Local Government Council Area of Delta State, on Monday evening.
The incident reportedly happened at a gas station identified as the NELMIC gas plant, located after Effurun market, opposite the Effurun post office.
What causes the explosion is yet to be ascertained as details of the incident are still sketchy as of the time of filling this report.
Meanwhile residents have been calling for help to contain the fire outbreak.
The people following Effurun/Sapele road have been advised to take another route while the inferno caused by the explosion subsidies.
One mr Sunday Musa a resident who told newsmen that the gas station went up in flames around 10:30 pm.
He stated that he saw it from far as Ginuwa road, and I suddenly saw huge red flames in the sky that just lasted some seconds and began to wonder what it was, thanks be to God for we did not loss anyone Musa told Daily Trust.
Another person who preferred not to e mentioned stated What I had was like a thunderous sound, The explosion has completely destroyed the gas plant.
