According to a news that was published by the Vanguard Newspaper Online yesterday evening, it was reported that the Parish Priest of St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Eburummiri, Ibagwa-Aka, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, Rev. Fr. Victor Ishiwu, was in the early hours of Saturday, kidnapped by kidnappers while he was officiating adoration prayers.
It was reported that the kidnappers, stormed the adoration ground after midnight and started shooting sporadically into the air, as everyone including the victim scampered for safety.
An eyewitness, who spoke under the condition of anonymity while narrating what happened said that, the kidnappers, who spoke pidgin English and Fulani languages, trailed the cleric to the Parish House and threatened to burn church facilities if he refused to come out or surrender to them.
The kidnappers said come out or we burn everything down. He added.
However, when the victim refused to heed to their warning, they forced themselves into the Parish House, through the church chapel, which they cut open and when they gained access, and they whisked him away.
