A Fulani herder from the Gwako Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was arrested by the security operatives in Abuja for allegedly stabbing his brother to death after little misunderstanding.

The Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) Muhammad Usma, disclosure this to newsmen on Sunday, 20th November 2022, saying that the deceased, one Yusuf Hussaini, 28 years of age, got into a fight with his brother, one Salihu Hussaini before the unthinkable occured.

Muhammad Usman also disclosed that, the first time both brothers were at each other’s throat. it was the elders of the community that made peace between them.

Mr. Usman said that, they are both of the same age from the same father but from separate mothers and living in their family compound with their parents and their wives.

On that day,Yusuf asked Salihu to put his sheep under control, as he accused him of releasing them in the night to destroy farm produce in the community. This led to a serious argument but it was settled by some elders.

Moroever, the argument resurfaced after sunset when most of the men were in the mosque. Salihu then stabbed Yusuf with a knife on the neck which resulted in his death. Salihu fled the community but reappeared two days later.

The police arrived and took him into their custody,MACBAN secretary stated.

This sad occurrence is something that could have been easily avoided but the deed is already done as many relatives of the household alongside other well wishers, friends, most especially the wives and children of the deceased have been thrown into mourning and a state of utter devastation, he added.

Mean while, all efforts put together by news agencies to get to the correspondent of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police Josephine Adeh, was declined as all text messages and calls were not responded to at the time of report.
